Scope of Practice

1. What this page covers

Everything we teach - every programme, mini training, masterclass and practitioner document, now and in future. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions.

2. What our teaching is, and is not

Everything we offer is voluntary continuing professional development. It deepens understanding and improves reasoning. It does not:

• guarantee any outcome, for you, for your practice or for a client
• instruct you to perform a particular treatment on a particular client
• confer a regulated qualification or a protected professional title
• certify practical competency in any treatment
• extend your scope of practice, your insurance cover or your existing qualifications
• authorise you to perform anything you were not already qualified and insured to perform
• constitute medical advice

Skin is individual. What we teach is a way of thinking, applied by you to the person in front of you - never a protocol to be followed without judgement.

A Certificate of Completion confirms that you completed a programme. It is evidence of learning, not a licence. Certificates are issued for our full programmes, and for some mini courses. They are not issued for masterclasses. Each purchase states clearly whether a certificate is provided.

3. Diagnosis is medical

Any condition that requires a diagnosis is diagnosed by a doctor. Our teaching approaches skin as something to be assessed and supported, not diagnosed or medically treated, and that is the boundary everything we publish is written inside.

Where a client has no diagnosis, we teach you to describe what you observe and encourage them to seek a medical opinion - not to supply one yourself.

4. Your scope of practice is yours

We are not your regulator, your insurer or your professional body, and it is not for us to tell you what you may do. Your scope is set by things we know nothing about:

• your qualifications, and what each of them authorises
• your insurance, and the treatments and conditions your policy covers
• the law where you practise, which varies enormously between countries
• your professional body’s standards, where you belong to one

Where any of those conflict with anything we teach, they win. We teach internationally and cannot advise on your local position - a treatment that is routine in one country may require medical supervision, a specific licence, or be prohibited in another.

You are responsible for working within your own scope of practice on every client, every time, wherever you are. Nothing on this site changes that, and nothing on this site should be taken as permission.

Your scope of practice is not our responsibility and carries no liability for us. Deciding what falls inside it, keeping it current, and acting within it are yours alone. We accept no liability and no responsibility of any kind for how you apply what you learn, for any treatment you carry out or decline to carry out, or for any consequence of either - for you, for your practice or for any client. Nothing we teach, publish or supply transfers any part of that to us.

5. Referral

Referral is a professional act, not a failure, and often the most valuable thing you do for a client. We teach you to recognise when a presentation belongs with a doctor and to refer by describing what you have observed - not by offering a probable diagnosis.

6. Our practitioner documents

Our forms, trackers and templates are deliberately general so they work wherever you practise. They are a starting point, not a compliance solution. Review and adapt any of them against your own local requirements, your insurer’s terms and your professional body’s rules before using them with a client. Nothing we supply is legal advice, and the documents you use in your practice remain your responsibility.

7. Who this is sold to

Everything here is professional education, sold to people who already hold a recognised qualification in skin or beauty therapy and who are buying in the course of their own business. It is not sold to the public, and it is not a route into the profession for someone without a qualification.

If we ever publish something intended for a general audience, we will say so plainly on that product itself. Where it does not say so, it is professional education and it is not for you.

Nothing on this site is advice about your own skin. If something about your skin concerns you, please see your doctor. If you are looking for treatment rather than training, find a qualified professional near you.
