1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies - local storage and tracking pixels - do much the same job, and everything on this page applies to them too.

3. The three kinds we use

Essential - always on

These make the site work. They keep you logged in to a course, hold the contents of a checkout, remember your cookie choice, and protect the site against abuse. They cannot be switched off, because without them the service does not function. We do not need your consent for these, and we do not use them to build a picture of you.

Analytics - only with your consent

These tell us which pages are read, which are abandoned, and where people leave. We use them to decide what to write next and what to fix. They are not set unless you accept them, and if you refuse, nothing about your visit is measured.

Advertising - only with your consent

These measure whether an advertisement led to a sign-up or a sale, and allow relevant advertisements to be shown to you elsewhere. They are not set unless you accept them.

4. What happens if you refuse

The site works exactly as it does otherwise. You can read everything, download the free guide, join the waitlist, buy a course and access it. Nothing is withheld and nothing is degraded. The only difference is that we learn less about how the site is used.

5. Changing your mind

Your choice is stored for six months, after which we ask again. You can change it sooner at any time using the link at the bottom of this page. If you refuse something you previously accepted, we stop setting those cookies immediately; cookies already on your device can also be cleared through your browser settings.

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a site, and the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge explain how. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site working.

6. Where your information goes

Analytics and advertising cookies involve providers outside Switzerland, including in the United States. Those transfers are covered by the safeguards described in our Privacy Notice, which also sets out your rights over the information held about you and how to exercise them.

Refusing analytics and advertising cookies means no information about your visit is sent to those providers at all.

7. Consent, and the law we are following

We are established in Switzerland, where the revised Federal Act on Data Protection requires us to be transparent about what we collect and why. In some of the countries our learners work in, the rules go further and require your consent before non-essential cookies are set. Rather than treat people differently depending on where they happen to be, we apply the stricter standard to everyone.

That means no analytics or advertising cookie is set on any visit until you have accepted it, refusing is as easy as accepting, and we do not treat a refusal as an invitation to ask again on every page.

8. Changes to this notice

If we add a tool that sets cookies, this page is updated before it goes live and the consent banner is shown again so you can make a fresh choice. The date at the top tells you when this version was published.
